The iconic Head Office building,  opened by the Duchess of Kent. The building won an RIBI award in 1984.

About this website

The website was designed to give a history of the Yorkshire Penny Bank, later Yorkshire Bank PLC, from the perspective of the staff and their branches.  It aims to cover the period from the foundation to about 1998, when structural changes meant the end of the traditional branch.

The sections are listed in the headings above but include:

The Branch History files, completed by the BHF team of Dave Page, Carol Hardisty and led by Phil Stevens.  These cover all our branches with their history, the names of the managers who led them where they came form and where they went to.  We have tried to list all members of staff who worked there

Head Office Department history files, compiled by John Jefferis with assistance from the BHF team. Most are still in the course of development, but will include similar information to the Branch History Files

Manager Files, compiled by Dave Page.  These provide a career history of each and every one of our branch managers

It is also now the means to distribute the Bank Pensioners' magazine, PLUS, produced by Andrea Wynne in alternate months.

The contents of this site are meant for former staff of Yorkshire Bank staff and so is password protected. If you would like access please e-mail access@yobs.org.uk with your name (plus the name you went by in the bank), your first and last branch and your first and last manager
